December 31st, 2020.
Here we are on the last day of 2020. Normally, I reflect on the past year and plan resolutions for the new year to come. But given how long this year seems to have lasted, I have other goals in mind.
This year I realized just how hard it is to maintain a training schedule without the accountability of friends or colleagues who offer feedback, support, critiques, and help keep you on track. It is so easy after a long day of virtual schooling, increased cooking, and extra family together time to put off training until the next day. I know I am not alone when I say these often leave me mentally exhausted unable to sort throughs on what to train next and problem solving.
Why does classes help keep me on track? It is a decision made in advance with a preset collection of skills. It's the plan that helps guide my tired brain. So there is no time like the present to use this idea of planning as we move into 2021.
